our Story

WORLDWIDE
Big N Smalls began with a desire to build a business that would glorify God, and give me the opportunity to do what he called me to do as well as support my family. At the same time I wanted to build something for people who have come from poverty or a hard past. I want to help people see what God can do in a person‘s life if they put their trust in him. During this time I was competing in BBQ competitions and doing exceedingly well. I enjoyed smoking meat and making it taste appetizing and tender enough to eat. This made me wonder, why not try to make money doing something I enjoy that also give me the opportunity to reach my community. So I prayed about it and felt the Lord tell me to move forward with it. Doors supernaturally opened enabling us to diligently put
everything together, including a very detailed business plan. Eventually we were able to open our first location in November 2009. I had no prior business experience or mentorship other than studying, reading books and observing other people that had been successful in their business. Since 2009 we have had 3 locations, starting with a beat up smoker that my father in law fixed “good enough “ to get us open. We had used equipment and started sleeping on the restaurant lobby floor overnight to make sure we had meat ready to open for business the next day. We then went to buying a concession trailer and opening at big events and local companies for lunch. This lasted for several years. Subsequently we made it through COVID using just our drive thru window. Now we are buying and renovating our latest restaurant and adding a commercial kitchen along with a custom HUGE all wood smoker that makes my life a little easier. All of this I had only hoped for years. Through all of this time, we have been blessed to raise two amazing young men in our restaurant that can run the business with their eyes closed! These boys had been coming to work with me since they were 4 years old. Furthermore we have been able to give back to our community, by providing a free Christmas Dinner for our community, feeding our first responders and provide discounts to our students and seniors. As a company and a family, we always want to try and represent Christ, for we owe him everything!
...Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ...
